Does anybody need a kick up the pants today (like me)? Are you resisting that which is to your benefit? Are you having to cajole yourself into “it’s good for me”, or do you get it banked without much question?
I still don’t want to walk. Crossing the threshold can be done but I find building up to that point is filled with avoidance and delays, and a base line of “I do not want this”. Swearing at myself helps to make me laugh and behave.
That said, I did walk back to the dry cleaners, this time to collect the suit which wasn’t going to walk home by itself. My phone rang on the way. I was going to ignore it as I don’t like talking in the street. But when I saw who it was from I tucked myself into the side and pressed the button to answer.
I volunteer on an app which helps blind people with something in particular they need sight for. I was linked up with a gentleman in Canada who needed help to read a score on his blood sugar monitor. I helped by confirming it was switched on, when it was ready to read and what the score was. When we were finished he asked where I was (Scotland). I told him our winter has been unusually mild but too often grey, and he told me they’d had huge snow drifts of up to ten feet, but that he likes having four seasons. It was a little magical to exchange our experiences so many miles apart. He was just lovely and he lifted my day. I was glad I’d walked and glad I’d taken his call.
Sometimes it doesn’t take much to change your day. And here I am still reaping the benefit.
Whatever it is we are resisting, let’s try doing it before anything else. We can always stop, but the not starting is getting us precisely nowhere.
