Around 18 November last year, I had a letter informing me that I owed a company £47. It was a rather threatening letter which declared that if I didn’t settle my debt they would send the bailiffs around. I had not bought anything from them or their subsidiary company. This company offer loans on eBay claiming that people could purchase items through them. They probably never say that they charge a high interest rate for the use of their services. I have never used them and never will.
I asked for my son’s help and he found out about the company and how to deal with this difficult situation. I rang them and said that I have never used their services so wondered how they had my contact details and could claim that I owed them the amount of money that they were claiming. They said that they would look into the claim and write to me again. I contacted the Crime Agency and reported the matter to them and obtained a Crime Reference number. I sent the Crime Reference Agency’s case number to the company.
A few days later I had a letter from them stating that they have removed me and all the members of our household from their database. They will not make any further contact with our address. Phew!
It was thanks to my son who helped me very effectively to distance us from this fearful business. For a little while I was very jittery as the experience unnerved me immensely. Have you ever had a similar experience?
