Choosing how to decide

Today I have written about decision making and have written about it because I find it hard.

There are people who always make the decision that suits them. They have a plan. Then there are people like me who spend more time thinking about what to have for lunch than thinking about who they should pick as a long-term partner. This is sad but true.

What is the secret of making a decision you will not regret years later? I am interested in finding out how Moodscopers make decisions.

I used to use pros and cons if I ever used a plan but now there is a better plan.

Here are some better Alternatives for Tough Choices

For complex decisions, try the following:

- List your pros and cons but assign each one a score from 1 to 10 based on how important it is to you then add them up to reveal which option holds the most value.

- The 10-10-10 Rule. Ask yourself how you will feel about the choice in 10 minutes, 10 months, and 10 years. This helps you see short-term discomfort with long-term benefits.

When to use Pros and Cons: use a  pros and cons list for quick, low-stakes decisions (e.g. what to eat for dinner, picking a film, ) but not for important life decisions like choosing  a partner. Now they tell me!!

Would you like to share a decision that worked well or one that did not like me, when I rushed in. The only pro was when my now ex told me that he had no emotional baggage as he was never married and had no children. I learnt that when a potential partner tells you they have no emotional baggage run as fast as you can!

The decisions can be about relationships, buying property, where to live, jobs or what to wear for a special occasion.
