I wonder how many of us fall into a trench between dreams and expectations. Have you given up, or diluted, dreams which once sat close to your heart?
Many of us will have done exactly this, popped a dream on a slow back burner and instead tried to meet expectation, possibly with a touch less glow. Wherever you are in your life, whatever state of physical or mental health you currently hold, your dreams are still valid. There is no expiry date. What would we find if we opened up a dream today? Would it need dusted off? Would it greet us like a long-lost friend?
Revisiting a dream needn’t be overwhelming, it starts with finding a memory and then we see if we close it off at the outset, or if we care to do something with it. Sometimes this can be as small as printing off a photograph to keep something closer or sometimes it can be a slow push at a door into taking a quarter step forward. Dreams can bring their own energy.
I’ve been trying to kickstart an old dream and have had two knock-backs. But I’ve not been taking it seriously enough and I’m not willing to take no for an answer anymore. Soon I will have a clear out of the room above the garage, then shine it up, sharpen my pencils and start again. And again. And again. Because we can dream a little dream for free.
Is an old dream worth some of your time?
