Imagine the delight when one visual stimulus stands out from the hundreds of overwhelming advertising screens and posters at Euston Underground. This one is the “Quote of the Day” Board at Euston Underground – and it really is a daily treat for the commuters.
The one I saw was titled, “THINGS YOU CAN CONTROL” – complete with a very well-drawn picture of a remote control.
Surrounding the image of the remote control were key points – and I’ve added some thoughts as parentheses.
· How you react (rather than being a slave to how you respond – that’s a game-changer we’ve had many blogs about. As my Nan said, “Count to ten…” This left a gap between stimulus and response… or in railway terms, “Mind the Gap”!)
· How you speak to yourself and others (many of us wouldn't dare to speak to others out loud in the way we criticise ourselves with our inner voice).
· How you spend your time (we ALL have 168 hours a week - it's a totally fair resource – is it time for you to renegotiate your commitments?).
· Who you follow on Social Media (remember, your life is strongly influenced by the 5 people you spend most time with - so why would following someone on Social Media be any different? Follow amazing people and become ever more amazing!).
· The boundaries you set (people will push your boundaries - make sure your boundaries are strong and defended. If a government's prime role is the security and safety of its citizens, your governing of yourself as the Prime Minister of your Life should honour your safety and security).
· Your attitude and mindset (the Golden Heart of all success - everything begins and is maintained with a growth mindset, and we know that attitude affects the altitude you journey towards in Life and your aptitude to achieve your goals, dreams, and vision).
· The company you keep (as discussed above on Social Media – our lives resemble the culture, results, and habits of the 5 people we spend most time with and give most attention to).
And speaking of Social Media, I'll be following Euston @the.quoteboard #eustonstation on Instagram.
It is rare that I look forward to visiting an Underground Station but with vision like this, I’ll be going underground more often!
