Joking, friendly banter or being insensitive?

I wonder if any Moodscoper has experienced the situation I have over the past year.

I volunteer a few days a week at a local charity shop. The volunteers age from aged 50s to 80s and are friendly. One of the men from the day we met decided to tease me or insult me in a funny way and I of course replied with similar banter. Other male volunteers all around my age joined in.

After a year I am  just tired of the endless jokes and sarcastic banter. I realise this isn’t important in the scheme of things, but lately I have been stressed and find the non-stop banter to be annoying and tiring. My dilemma is this person is kind and thinks he is funny. If I say anything I will sound like a grumpy old woman.

I would like Moodscopers to share with me their wisdom and their experiences of something similar. You may have had a family member who behaved this way or a coworker, volunteer, or neighbour etc.

I don’t want to appear like a bad sport but I just want to have a normal chat with the occasional banter or witty repartee.
