“May The Fourth Be With You!” is a popular play on words, echoing the legendary, “May The Force Be With You!” from the ‘Star Wars’ universe. If we jump to the “Force” – it’s supposed to be some life force that holds the Universe together. A nice idea, I think.
On a much more down-to-earth practical note today, I’d like to take one aspect of The Force what works its own kind of magic: kindness.
Let’s use this May 4th to activate intentional acts of kindness and see if we can liberate some Jedi Joy!
Making sense of kindness is interesting when we work systematically through the senses.
First is usually Vision since so much of our brain is dedicated to processing what we see. Do you have a smile primed and ready to share with strangers and friends alike? May I encourage you to risk a grin on your chin where and when you may have kept it within?
Could you, “Say it with flowers,” this week, thereby adding scent to the beauty of your bloomers?
And I like the sound of, “Thank you!” and, “Please!” and, “Yes!” and, “You did a lovely thing there,” and, “I love you!” and, “You smell lovely,” and, “You look fabulous!” and, “That was delicious!” and, “You are SO thoughtful!”
Sometimes I wonder if we are in danger of losing our touch. Who can you get in touch with today… and who can you safely and appropriately touch? A hug... an arm around the shoulder… a hand held…
Scent is the secret sauce – evoking memories and making them too. How could you create a scentsation this week?
And if the way to a person’s heart is through their stomach, what delightful and delicious dishes could you use to woo your way into anothers affections?
May you go forth and may the Force be with you on May the 4th!
