My favourite

How many times have you heard someone ask, or have you asked the question starting with “What is your favourite?” and then adding a topic like colour, movie, food, movie book or thousands of other choices.

I know this can be an ice breaker in finding out more information from someone you don’t know or a way of seeking information.

I have a problem with the word favourite as there may be many things I like but I really cannot pick one.

Am I indecisive because I can’t think of a favourite thing?

Is it important to you to have a favourite object or am I reading far too much into this simple question?

For someone as indecisive as me, it is more like, these are some of the things I like but no more than others, or things I really like today but not tomorrow, or how can I choose one fruit over another without upsetting them.

Ok as you all know I over think everything.

How do you feel about answering what is your favourite book, chocolate, song, colour, animal etc? Can you answer without going through all the rigmarole I do?

For those who think this topic is too light, you can think about extending it to discussing how having a concept of the favourite child can affect both child and parent. So, we can discuss the idea of a favourite at basic or more complex level.
