What does your self care look like? I’m not talking about treating yourself to an extra bag of crisps/slice of cake/glass of something and justifying it, but something that properly cares for you.
I realise that I do everything at top speed. Even when drinking coffee I do something else alongside. Four or five jobs at once is perfectly normal, and it can leave me feeling nothing is complete. Therefore I can feel I’ve failed. For those of use who suffer with low mood, we don’t need those extra feelings!
So I’ve started to drink my coffee and do nothing else. Make it a singular event. I sit on a rug on the kitchen floor beside the doors, and look out into the garden. Sip. Just be. Weirdly, it takes effort to break the cycle. And I’m starting to adore it.
So my new attitude to self care is going to be to do one thing completely before taking on the next. It might slow me down a little, but it might also boost my feelings of achievement. That, for me, is good self care.
Are you caring for yourself?
Wishing you a peaceful Saturday.
