Sitting with it

How often do you sit with your problem or your low mood? It’s a term that is used a lot and I’ve been curious to what it means, because if I’ve a problem, or my mood has plummeted, then I’m usually going after it full pelt in a blocking out pursuit!

When our minds are running from one thing to the next (me) there can be little chance to face up to things. There is little chance of imagination, creativity or solving our problems on a deeper level. We just surface wipe.

Sometimes, and if we want a deeper and more permanent fix, we need to sit with our problem or mood. And this means:

- Seeing the problem

- Describing the problem

- Specifying the name of how it makes us feel

- Recognising if it has returned

- Having a coping method to tolerate it

Squashing things away might be a quick fix but can hold us down. I’m guilty of this and it’s my next hurdle to jump. I’m not quite sure how I’ll do it but I can see it needs doing. If you’re similar, we can always jump this hurdle together.
