Tears or no tears?

A few nights ago, I found myself feeling sad and about to cry for no reason. I rationally knew I was not depressed and I felt ok, but the tears were not rational. When asked why I am crying I can’t answer as I don’t know. I wonder if any Moodscoper has felt this way. There are reasons for crying as it is a human behaviour that is involved with our emotions. When we cry due to stress our bodies release chemicals that help to minimise our feelings of stress.

Recognising these can help us better understand our emotional responses and those of people around us. Sadness, happiness, anger, and frustration can all lead to crying. These feelings can stem from traumatic experiences, a significant life change, or even a moving  film.

I find it hard to work out why I cry over nothing or why I feel ok experiencing emotional pain. Some people never or rarely cry where others like me are frequent criers.

If your crying is situational, feels appropriate to the circumstance, and you feel better afterward, it is a healthy emotional response.

Moodscopers, I am interested to hear about your experiences. Do you rarely cry - do you know why? Do you cry a lot and know why, or do you accept the tears are part of your emotional make up?
