The Moodscope test and scoring are very intriguing to me. I have found, over the time that I have been picking the cards, that often by the time I get to the last card I can predict within a very small margin of error – and often exactly what my score will be.
Over the time I have been completing the test, I have got a very good feel for how the numbers relate to my mood. I find this fascinating. I don’t think it is Extra Sensory Perception! I am not a psychologist, but I’m guessing this is part of the benefit of taking the test.
The feedback loop might be helping me detach just a tiny bit from my moods. It might be helping me see moods as a trick of brain chemistry, rather than who I am as a whole person. This does however beg the question about what personality is and how it might differ from a recurring pattern of fluctuating moods.
Sometimes in the process of completing the test I feel that I am selecting for an outcome that shows me the result I want to see. Do you ever do this? Does it matter? Perhaps I’m overthinking it, but I’d be really interested in how other people approach the test.
Also, I don’t feel I can ever record a “3”. It just seems too much. I’d be interested in the de-identified stats on the frequency of this score, or your feedback on this, if you feel comfortable about discussing it.
