The Shape of the Week Ahead

Do you annotate your Moodscope Scores? I do now. Working with therapeutic AIs, the notes give them something to respond to. If you can afford a human therapist (I was lucky enough to get some significant NHS help), the same annotations give your therapist fuel. It's good to write.

One of my sons 'bit' me. I was trying to be supportive, but he wasn't in the same place to cope with my upbeat energy. I'm physically unwell at the moment, temporarily limited mobility, and that's draining me. I think my son is really suffering, so when I reached out to stroke him, he bit. I take that as a sign deep work needs doing. Our children haven't walked the miles we have, and thus lack our experiential bruises, cracks, repairs, and wisdom. I'm not my son's best friend – not always – I'm his father, which requires different skills.

All this is context for this: my score plummeted to 50% from 77% the day before. I wrote down the assumed causes and bunged the result into my AI to 'analyse'. The results were very helpful, and got me thinking about the Rectangle – one of five shapes I occasionally share with Moodscopers.

The Rectangle is the shape of transition. Here's what my online therapist said: "You are in transition. Processing heavy material. Energy low because load high. Rest is not optional; it's strategic."

Aside from the son issue, this week - a friend I admired died young, I'm still processing Dad's death, my step-father died 31st January, there's 'stuff' to sort, and I'm unhealthy. Oh, and, I’d started the day shutting my thumb in the shower door before rushing to the loo to be spectacularly ill! That's a lot. My future's uncertain, and Dad was keeping me afloat. Now, I've a horrible sinking feeling! (Pun intended!) Thus, to have today, maybe this whole week, as a Rectangle, is good for me.

Four other shapes could shape your days, if you're not in Rectangle mode!

Square Day (Box Day) – celebrate being organised: everything in its box. Affirm: "I have a place for everything, everything's in its place." Vacuum to Wagner! Clean!

Triangle Day – focused on one task at a time, max three tasks. Get it done!  (The Box will get it dusted!)

Circle Day – social. Be with friends. Turn off phone, computer. Talk in real life. Walk a dog. Look for signs of Spring.

Squiggly Day – full of energy. Know what energises you. Go do it.

Whatever state you’re in, I hope your week ‘shapes’ up to be something really special.
