You may recall my recent blog where I broke down on the motorway on the way to see a good friend and go walking.
So yesterday I made it. Rather than admitting defeat, and after an expensive car repair, I set off with walking boots, walking stick and dog to climb the Long Mynd.
I hadn't seen my friend for three years and so we had so much to catch up on. We did the long loop and after a steep climb emerged on the ridge of the Long Mynd. We reached the highest point in time for lunch and we were rewarded with stunning, panoramic views of Wales and England.
I returned home yesterday afternoon with sore feet but a real sense of contentment, plus a belly full of Victoria Sponge and tea. This had been on my bucket list. I am scared of heights but it was all fine.
Furthermore, my lovely friend has accommodated the fact that our first meet up was cancelled due to my poor mental health and the second by a misfiring car.
So what are the lessons from this? Nurture good friends, step outside your comfort zone, be persistent in the face of failure, do exercise, appreciate the wonderful natural world we live in and do the things you have dreamed of.
Have a good day!
