Who Am I?

When in full bloom

My flower is more Sun than Moon

Though after bloom

I am so like the Moon!

A gentle breeze

And my children become stars

Wandering stars

That travel afar

Fairies

On parachutes

Traveling

Far away -

As much as five miles

In one day

I am a clock

Working, yet silent

No slave to time

No ‘tick’ no ‘tock’

My leaves

Are like the teeth

Of Leo

And thus you

Guess my name

I know you know!

If you haven’t guessed yet, I’ll pop the answer at the bottom of this blog. This blog has been inspired by the presence of fairies in the house, floating like paragliders, though the design of their flying apparatus predates paragliders by hundreds of thousands of years.

They look so elegant, and dreamy, and it is true that they can travel as much as 5 miles away from their launching place they called ‘home’.

Each smile

Each act of kindness

Each gift

Can be like these fairies.

They can travel afar and make a difference not only where they land but also bring delight on the journey.

I used to write on Lady Penelope’s lunchbox banana – claiming to be, “The Banana Poet.” It seemed her colleagues, too, looked forward to seeing what was on the banana each day. And I have the habit of making more effort on decorating envelopes than on writing in the cards I have sent. More than once, I have been told of the grin on the Postperson’s chin!

It's Bank Holiday here in the UK. A time to recharge, and perhaps a time to share something of your vital spark with the world.

Is there a card to send?

Is there a cheerful call to make?

Is there a smile to share?

Is there a cake to bake?

May something of yourself travel today to bring fairy-like delight into the lives of others.

Yours truly
