“You Are Here – a brief guide to the world,” is a delightful book by Nicholas Crane. Already, I have learned something about the four spheres that make up our world:

The Biosphere (the ‘living’ bit)
The Lithosphere (the ‘rocky’ and ‘earthy’ bit)
The Hydrosphere (the ‘water’ bit)
The Atmosphere (the ‘air’ bit).

As one thought leads to another, I got enchanted by the fact that Earth has Northern and Southern Hemispheres. Our brains have Left and Right Hemispheres – a sort of West and East effect in most representations.  So, I got to creating an image of a new planet that has a Western and Easter Hemisphere and looked like a brain. And then I was thinking about Moodscaping this planet and our experience of it. So here are some wellbeing ideas around enriching the four spheres. Please add tons more using the headings as an inspiration.

🔥 BIOSPHERE

It’s great to really feel like we are connecting with Nature.
Nutrition – what could you choose this week that would be a real treat or give you an energy boost?

Nature – is it time for that trip out you’ve been putting off or thinking about?
If you haven’t been thinking about it, where would you like to visit?
Pets – I go to my local pet shop for my pet-fix. What could you do to have a positive animal encounter this week? Open Farm Sunday was wonderfully experiential!
Plants – visiting the local garden centres is enough for me to feel inspired and energised. I don’t even need to buy!  How about you?

🌬️ATMOSPHERE

Plants – I understand that some houseplants clean the air. Maybe buy some!
Scented plant essences can improve how we feel using a candle, or geranium soap, or even a favourite perfume, or diffuser.
Breeze – air movement is important so how about investing in a new fan or opening those windows?
Breath – changes the atmosphere, just as mindfulness does. Let’s spend some time breathing ‘intentionally’ and ‘consciously’.

💧 HYDROSPHERE

How can we bring more water into our lives?
How about a water feature?
A bath with candlelight?
The invigoration of steam and stream with a shower?
And, of course, vital in hotter weather: hydration.
And when the rain returns, how could you enjoy it?

🪨 LITHOSPHERE

I really want to build a small ‘sacred’ Cairn. Does that idea appeal to you too?

Have any of you had warm stone therapy at a Spa? What’s it like?
And how about crystals and rocks – do they bring you comfort?

Lots of ideas, and more, I’m sure, will be added in the comments. The purpose is to choose some, not all. One is good.  Three would be outstanding. Treat yourself and sculpt your Moodscape!
